Somatics & Yoga
This workshop will be exploring a Somatic approach to Yoga. This approach can be very therapeutic for the nervous system allowing it to rebalance and teaches us to build awareness and coordinated movement, which in turn leads to more stability, greater mobility and strength.
We can become creatures of habit, misusing ourselves, reacting to new demands with wired-in responses that are often inefficient and sometimes harmful.
Somatic exercises help to re-wire the brain and nervous system with awareness, challenging the level of sensory awareness and motor control. We learn to bring unconscious involuntary movement to a conscious level and release unwanted tension.
This workshop will explore a gentle yet challenging and sustainable approach to yoga. It will help you discover and release habitual patterns of holding tension in body and breath. Finding space and openness in the body, and flexibility in the mind.
Learn how to really ‘let go’ and return to embodied movement and a sense of wholeness.
Closing with a rejuvenating and restorative sequence designed to leave you feeling relaxed and ready for the week ahead.
Suitable for everybody, mixed level.
